File Delivery & Approval

Full PDF Workflow

Webstar use a full PDF workflow with the latest APPE (Adobe Postscript Print Engine) supporting PDF 1.3 through 1.6 — we recommend 1.5 or higher. Our online file delivery and approval system is available via quickstart guide.

File Setup

Supply all pages as single-page PDF files
Include trim marks and 3mm minimum bleed
All live type minimum 5mm from trim
PDF 1.5 or higher recommended

Colour

All non-CMYK colour spaces (including RGB) auto-converted to CMYK using ISO standard profile
Large black solids: add 20% cyan under black (rich black)
Body copy black: set as 100% black only for sharp, clean type
Enable Overprint Preview in your PDF viewer for accurate representation

Images

Recommended resolution: 300dpi for all images
Preflight warnings sent below 170dpi
Warning emails sent to uploader when file is processed
Access warning info using Smart Review online

Perfect Bound Jobs

For double page images between inside cover and first/last text page, images should be rolled to the foredge by 5mm (usually 5–7mm hinge). Cover file and text file must be moved by the same amount to ensure images don't appear elongated or distorted.

ISO Colour Reproduction

Webstar prints to ISO standards. Download the correct profile for your job below. Webstar also use the Veripress on-press digital softproofing system on each press, calibrated to ISO standards, allowing printers to compare print in real time.

Secure File Transfer

Reliable & Secure

For clients that require an alternative method of file transfer, Webstar provides a secure FTP service accessible via sFTP (SSH File Transfer) or HTTPS (SSL web browser). Both methods use high-grade SHA-256 with RSA encryption keys for the secure transfer of sensitive information.

In addition to encryption, Webstar provides individual logins and can enable IP address-based access control list filtering to further secure the connection between clients and the Webstar system.
